Let The Road Trip Begin! Ilana Jesse, September 23December 14 Owen's River Gorge – CA. Road Trip – Day One. Out the door at 4:30am, we kissed Los Angeles goodbye not to be seen again for two weeks. We had one plan and that was to climb; as much and in as many places as possible. With a rough itinerary of Bishop, Yosemite NP, Grand Teton NP, Moab and Zion there were plenty of gaps to fill. We only had one date requirement, to be in Bishop tomorrow to boulder with some friends. Other than our one commitment, we are free to climb the North West as far as our car and bodies can take us. Day one, we found ourselves at Owen’s River Gorge. Here the sport climbing is stout and plentiful. Unfortunate for us, the weather was also stout. At a sizzling 90+, we found ourselves selectively choosing routes in the shade dubbing us the “shade chasers”. The majority of our climbs were 10’s and 11’s with some notable 10’s at the China Wall and Dilithium Crystal (my climbing partner’s 12b project).
