Uinta Mountains, Take Two: Climbing Ilana Jesse, September 30December 14 Back to the Bald Mountain trailhead, we went with option 2 – the trail in the opposing direction of yesterdays. Heading down the correct trail with a quasi-functional climbing partner, 2.4 miles later we found ourselves looking at the crag we gazed so longingly upon from the summit of Bald Mountain yesterday. The rumors we had heard of the Uintas were a modest understatement of its actual beauty. The fascinatingly featured quartzite rock overlooking a picturesque alpine lake was all ours for the taking. We climbed all but one route at the crag, doing laps on our favorites and eating wild raspberries by the handful between climbs. Sounds like a movie, right? Nope, this was our amazing day.
